Inbox - February 14, 2014

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  The whisky world and PR departments are slowly waking up as we enter February.  Here are a couple of bits for this week ...

2 Gingers - Expands distribution
The fast growing 2 Gingers Irish whiskey brand has announced that it is to now be distributed fully across the United States, after proving highly popular in a limited number of states where it was on trial.  The brand is produced by the award-winning Kilbeggan Distillery Company, which was acquired by Beam Global in 2012.

The brand was created by current CEO Kieran Folliard and the name pays homage to his mother and aunt - two fiery redheads that feature on the label.  The whiskey is double distilled and matured for four years, and has proved extremely popular with new whiskey drinkers and with cocktail mixologists and bartenders.  A bottle costs $19.99 for a 750ml bottle.  For more information on the brand and for suggested cocktail recipes using it, please visit www.2gingerswhiskey.com or follow @2gingerswhiskey on Twitter.

Ballantine's - Bring music to the people
The hugely popular blended whisky of Ballantine's have announced the latest series of events in their Stay True campaign.  This sees the brand collaborating with online music phenomena Boiler Room for a number of Stay True Journeys.  The aim is to discover the world's most vibrant music scenes and the characters involved in them.  The centrepiece of the project is to be a series of documentaries shot on location across the globe.

To support the project, a series of one-off local events will be held in numerous locations throughout 2014.  Theses will showcase local legends and emerging talent, while incorporating local music traditions.  A limited number of tickets will only be available for each event and will be streamed live on a special microsite boilerroom.tv/staytrue.  The first event is to be staged in Mexico in March, with further venues being announced through the same microsite.  Here's a little teaser ...
