Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (July 24, 2015)

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information. Here is what has caught our attention this week ...

The Macallan - Rare Casks selected
The famous Speyside distillery has announced a new prestigious single malt that is to be added to its range - The Macallan Rare Casks.  The whisky has been created using 16 special casks that have been hand selected by Bob Dalgarno, the Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan.  The whisky sees a combination of American and Spanish oak cask matured malt that have been married together.  The Rare Casks is bottled at 43% ABV and is available through specialist whisky retailers with a recommended retail price of £200.

Bob Dalgarno commented: “Rare Cask tested my knowledge and skill to create a whisky worthy of The Macallan name.  It was about firstly identifying a selection of casks which can truly be called rare. Each of the cask styles result in different character, so each imparts their own distinct influence on the final whisky.”
